Wireworld Supernova 7 Optical Audio Cable

The sonic differences among digital audio cables are caused by jitter, which occurs as digital processors intermittently lose track of the digital bitstream. Jitter degrades sound quality by losing parts of the signal and replacing them with noise and distortion. Wireworld digital audio cables minimize jitter by providing sharper, cleaner leading edges on the digital waveform. At each price level, they provide the lowest jitter available, producing distinct improvements in clarity, smoothness and dynamic range.

A reference-quality optical digital cable, which utilizes 338 Borosilicate glass fiber optic conductors. The new termination technique provides improved clarity and dynamics that will thrill the most sophisticated listeners. It is also the first glass digital cable available with the 3.5mm mini optical connector for Macintosh computers.

Just tells the truth

I already owned an Audioquest Pearl Digital Optical cable, which was a distinct upgrade from the Toslink I had used before. But, after a recommendation by Mark and upon understanding the material improvements put into the design, I purchased the Wireworld 7 and ran it from my Eversolo DMP -A6 ( used as a streaming transport ) to my Ayon Dac.

At first, I thought the Wireworld made the sound stark and stripped-down until I realized all the tonal expression and richness was still there, only better separated and relieved of the murkiness and grain of the Audioquest Pearl, a thickness and dullness that I had never appreciated before.

Unless your system is bright/cold and needs some artificial warmth added, I'd strongly recommend the Wireworld 7. The cable not only offers a level of compelling and natural resolution that tells you what voices and instruments really sound like, but it is surely a good enough cable to survive just about any Transport / Dac equipment upgrades you might undertake in the future. It just tells more 'truth' than the Pearl, which itself is hardly a bad cable and a pretty good bargain for the price. I had initial reservations about spending this much cash on an optical cable ( the narrative about zeros and ones being unchangeable regardless of the cable going around my head ), but I no longer do. All I have to do is put the Audioquest Pearl back into my system, and any doubts about what the Wireworld is doing are again gone.

Along with the Waversa EXT1, which I brought from Futureshop, cleaning up the signal from my router, the Wireworld has now brought the sound quality of my Eversolo up to that of my Audiolab 9000CDT, something which I would have never before believed possible. All my 'serious' listening used to be through CD, with my Eversolo only being used to 'surf' and find new music to love, which I would then buy on CD. Now, through my Eversolo, I'm getting a sound that is slightly different in character but has the same musicality as my CD transport. I'm finally willing to believe streaming can sound as good as a high-end CD transport, and a big part of that is the Wireworld 7.

Thanks again to Mark for his recommendation. I'm poorer but very happy!

Upgraded from QED Reference optical cable to fantastic results!!

I was thinking long and hard about Wireworld Supernova 7, but I’m glad I pulled the trigger. If you are unsure, don’t listen to all the clever scientists on hi-fi forums. Try it and listen for yourself.

Thank you, Geoff, for your advice. It is much appreciated.

Wireworld Supernova 7 Optical Audio Cable, is mind blowing. It has deep bass, and detailed yet mellow sound.

Thanks Adam Senior, after 3 years of eating crap with the sound of my TV, I'm finally able to enjoy it.  Similarly priced cables do not come close to this one !

A noticeable improvement to my active speaker's optical input

A noticeable improvement to my active speaker's optical input. I have done an A-B comparison between the analogue input on my Active speaker and it's TOSLINK input with the SuperNova 7. The SuperNova 7 delivered more punch to the sound with better separation of the music. For sure it was well worth the price compared to a cheaper TOSLINK cable I used in the past.

Optical cables do sound different

Was using QED reference optical before feeding my Chord M scaler. Supernova 7 has better detail, depth, seperation and imaging. The QED sounded warmer though.

Good cable
14 Jun 2019
Verified Buyer
Until now I had only used bottom of the barrel optical cables which did not impress me. While I value fidelity, I did not want to go through the efforts of filtering or conditioning using USB transport.

The moment the cable arrived I hooked it up to my computer into My Onkyo DAC with a 768KHz sampling rate. The connector requires a fair bit of pressure to insert but is very secure once done so. I noticed that the cover of the connector does not put pressure on the cable when turned. Loading up something in VLC in ALSA, no resampling, dedicated feed, the difference was instantly noticeable. In comparison to my music rig with separate transport using a BNC connection with Belden digital cable, I found the Wireworld clean although with some jitter remaining.

Overall I am very pleased, as the upgrade is night and day and the audio is much closer to life and immersive. It works.

Comparison Toslink Cables: -...

Comparison Toslink Cables: -

All those who believe that the quality of Toslink Optical digital cables makes no difference to the audio sound quality, please do not read any further.

I have an Auralic Aries Steamer, Classic Playstation3 80GB, Sonic Frontiers DAC3, Vovox Fortis XLR interconnect, Krell Class A 100W/channel Amp.

My aim is to achieve the best sound possible by using better cables, instead of spending £9,000 plus on a new DAC. (My Sonic frontiers DAC3 is better that a Chord Dave DAC)

In order of performance the results are: -
# My original no-brand Glass Toslink from America = better than any sub £100 toslink
# QED Toslink = a little better resolution.
# Wireworld Supanova 7= better resolution still and better dynamics, forward midrange.
# Audioquest Vodka = Just slightly better resolution still, better dynamics, more evenly balanced frequency range from hi - low. Good tight bass and clear treble.
# Audioquest Diamond = Has all the qualities of the Vodka, but in much greater quantity across the board. The only cable to bring out the emotion of the streamed song or the dialogue nuances from DVD. This Toslink shows why a singer can make their mother cry, or why that actor won the OSCAR.

Warni-ng, there is a huge price range from my £20 glass Toslink to the £499 Diamond, My suggestion is to choose the Toslink which price matches the quality of the rest of your system.

My ratings try to reflect the price/performan-ce balance of the respective Toslink cable.

Feel free to cut and paste my review into any other forum discussion of Toslink Cables.

Regarding to the quality of the cable: I haven’t.....

Regarding to the quality of the cable: I haven’t seen anything better then this.
The connector can turn around the cable so that you will never have to twist it.
Also under a looking glass the head of the optical part is by far superior to for example the Audioquest Vodka.
