What Van Den Hul say
With the design of The CLEARWATER, it was our intention to produce the best match between quality and price. The decision was taken to work with 2 groups of strands with a conductor size of AWG 14; this because in many situations the distance between the amplifier and the loudspeakers is limited. Therefore a twin-lead construction was made with 2 x 98 strands of a dense very pure silver coated Matched Crystal (MC) OFC. The two conductor groups are twisted in opposite directions. The resistance of each lead is: 0.9 Ohm/100 meter. The capacitance between the two conductors is: 17.5 pF/meter. Sonically this cable is a great product with a very balanced overall quality. There is no harshness and the spatial reproduction is superior. Just as its name says: The sound is as clear as water. The cable’s jacket is made of transparent HULLIFLEX ® 3, a robust halogen free material excellently capable of shielding the copper conductors from the chemically threatening outside world. The jacket on each lead is different in shape and the flat middle section in between has a printing on one side: both properties are easy polarity finders. Type printing at 25 cm. (10") distance makes cutting of specified lengths very easy.

1. We use Royal Mail 1st Class Services as a Standard Postage Option
Orders received before 4.30pm Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) are usually dispatched the same day by FIRST CLASS post (unless premium postal or timed courier services are selected), subject to stock availability. Over 98% of our orders are usually delivered the next working day including Saturdays.

All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Futureshop.co.uk. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD or Interlink Express for items that weigh over 2KG. For the Next Day Special Delivery service, orders must be received by futureshop.co.uk by 4.30pm weekdays. Orders after the 4.30pm deadline cannot be guaranteed for same day dispatch.

- Cable Compatibility: We regret to inform you that we cannot burn-in cables with stripped bare ends or BFA plugs. In order for cables to undergo the burn-in process, they should be terminated or have connectors.
- Timing: Cables will be burnt in for the selected period after processing your order. For custom-length cables, the burn-in process will occur after they have been terminated by the manufacturer or our engineers unless specified otherwise in the product description.
- Availability: Future Shop provides our cable burn-in service free of charge, but its availability is at our discretion. While we strive to fulfil all burn-in requests for the specified time periods, please understand that during exceptionally busy periods, we may be unable to meet the demand due to limited connections on the Nordost Vidar cable conditioning machines.
The Nordost VIDAR cable burn-in machine integrates three key functions into one operation:
- Charge Neutralisation: It eliminates charges that accumulate around the cables and their insulation, ensuring a more balanced electrical environment.
- Deep Conditioning: The machine provides a wide band and deep conditioning process that affects the conductor core, resulting in changes to the signal transmission through the metal. This deep conditioning enhances the cable's performance.
- Ultrasonic Surface Conditioning: The VIDAR machine utilizes ultrasonic waves to condition the surface of the conductors, optimizing their contact and overall conductivity.
The VIDAR employs a proprietary combination of composite and complex signals to condition the cables. These signals comprise ultra-low and ultra-high frequencies, extending beyond the range of video frequencies. The signal moves back and forth along the cable, penetrating deep into the core with ultra-low frequencies and traversing the surface with ultra-high frequencies. This is my 2nd purchase of Va-den-hul 'Clearwater' speaker cable.
Having tried QED, Audioquest, and other speaker cables, I find this Clearwater to be the best all-rounder.

My speakers (Epos M5i's and matching centre speaker) are a touch bright. So after some upgrades (Denon AV amp and then Emotiva 5ch power amp), I decided to replace the Cable Talk 3.1 speaker cable I had been using for years since I had been noticing that with certain recordings, the M5i's would skate perilously close to sibilance. This was especially the case before I added the Emotiva power amp, as the Denon AVC X3700C can be pushed to harshness when driving all 9 of its channels, and even with only two channels driven, harshness and brightness are never far away.
I had bought the CT 3.1 cable many years before when I had a pair of Tannoy Mercury M2s (from 1997) specifically to "boost" the slightly recessed top end of those speakers. These cables remained in my system over many upgrades, which says something about how good they are, especially at their price (in the region of £2-£3 pounds per meter, if I recall correctly).
Right from the off, with no "burning in", the Clearwater cable dialled back the top-end brightness of the system just the right amount to retain its crispness while banishing any hint of harshness or sibilance. At the same time, the rest of the frequency range received a modest but detectable boost in detail resolution and clarity. The result is certain instruments now project into the room, while music and dialogue in films are now clearer and more present than ever.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the Clearwater. The cable has done *exactly* what I was hoping it would do. Futureshop provided a speedy service (so I got the cables before Xmas!), and all cable ends were neatly and professionally stripped and ready for my banana plugs.

I bought these to replace Audioquest Rocket 33 speaker cables.
I found the bass to be more defined with the VDH, and the treble had less shimmer. Also, they deserve their name because they are very clear. I would not go back. I tested them with a Marantz model 40N and Totem Staff speakers to give some context.

The cables sounded awful out of the box. Should have opted for the free burn in. They are starting to warm up. I swapped out from a 12awg monoprice 2747 but am still undecided if they sound better than the monoprice to be honest.

This cable is really good it lifted the sound in my system to a new level. I am bi-amping, after connecting the Clearwater cables I noticed that the high frequency sound was much better but still not satisfactory. So I connected extra cables in parallel between the high freq channel and the speakers and to my amazement the sound opened up and became crystal clear.
Long story short, I have now about a total of 6mm cable diameter on each channel.
