Excellent quality of sound

I was sceptical about the products then Adam at Future Shop convince me to try them and return them if I could not hear the difference. I got the QED XT 40 jumpers to match my speaker cables. I was well surprised. I could hear the improvement on all the frequencies. More detail on the treble and bass is more focused. As usual Adam and the team at Future Shop are polite, friendly, and I got next day delivery .

They are reasonably priced for a good quality. Perfect for mid-level hi fi setup.

Solid jumper cables for the price. Nice and thick cables which left no doubt in my mind that it will do its job well.

Even the spade ends were terminated in a way that is angled well to connect easily. Well thought out and designed! Recommended to give it a try.

I got bored with my cumbersome biwire cables and decided to go monowire instead, so splashed out on QED XT40 speaker plus jumper cables. I'm increasingly sceptical that speaker biwiring has any listening benefit at all, and this purchase confirms that suspicion.

My old cables were ok, but the flabby, poorly controlled bass was driving me nuts. I had to use the tone controls on my amp to compensate for unwanted and sometimes strident bass colouration. On playing music through the QEDs though, it became apparent that the tone controls were no longer necessary. I just press the defeat button, leave it there, and let the new cables do the controlling for me – in all music genres I listen to. Everything seems cleaner and more detailed. The mid/upper register can get a little harsh at higher volumes - my only criticism.

My old album favourites like Talk Talk’s “Laughing Stock” and "Spirit of Eden" now have a new lease of life. Mark Hollis’ voice sounds even more beautiful and expressive. The ride cymbals stand out in sounding delicate and detailed rather than a fizzly incoherent high frequency mush. The atmosphere and ambience of this album has been transformed, and all the musical light and dark is now there to hear and absorb – and to even get quite emotional about. I’m looking forward to blowing the dust off the other old favourites to see what else I’ve been missing.

I don’t normally write reviews about shops, but this one is a deserving exception. I got Futureshop to burn-in the cables for 72 hours and to fit QED Airloc bananas, with spades on the jumper cables. Delivery was lightning-fast with everything packaged up well and protected. Futureshop is one of those outfits that you feel really wants to help, and who still respects the now fading concept of customer satisfaction; long may that continue, and good on them!
