QED's e-flex technology and an even thinner cable (just 6mm!) means that the Performance HDMI is extremely flexible, while still delivering 4K 60Hz up to 18Gbps through 99.999% Oxygen Free Copper.
The new Performance HDMI cables are QED's most flexible yet. Built-on the experience QED have gained from designing their previous e-flex cables, QED have been able to further reduce the diameter of this HDMI cable to improve its flexibility, yet maintain its capability to transmit 4K60 video.
QED were connecting the Audio Return Channel (ARC) before it was a requirement of the HDMI organisation and since the introduction of the HDMI 1.4 specification in 2009, QED have focused on only manufacturing the highest standard 'High Speed with Ethernet' cables. This policy of only manufacturing the highest specification HDMI cables enable QED to immediately support the new HDMI 2.0 standard introduced a few years ago and certify their cables for 4K60 use.
Recently, HDMI.org has introduced the new Premium Cables Certification Program, This is not a new cable category and is an addition to the 2.0b specification which has not been changed. Premium Certification offers a difficult to counterfeit guarantee level which promises the consumer a minimum standard of performance. In order to continue providing customers with a range of cables in which they can have the utmost confidence, QED are offering Premium certification on the two most popular length cables - 1.5m and 3.0m. This is in addition to QED's Lifetime Guarantee.
Consumers can scan the unique QR code on the premium sticker to verify that the cable in their hand is a genuine QED cable, certified to full Premium High Speed 2.0b compliance including support for UHD 4K60, HDR and HDCP 2.2 content protection.
With the introduction of the HDMI 2.0 standard in September 2013, the maximum data rate of the HDMI link increased from 10.2Gb/s to 18Gb/s. This was to accommodate the new uncompressed 4K 60Hz video standard (termed 4K60 4:4:4) which required a data rate of 16.06Gb/s. In order to achieve this, the source and display equipment at each end of the cable have to be 2.0 compliant. However the cabling physical layer remained unchanged and this is still the case for version 2.0b introduced in March 2016.
High Dynamic Range (HDR) support was also introduced with HDMI version 2.0b. With HDR equipment there is a greater contrast ration and more brightness steps to give a smoother picture and more detail in both bright and shadowy areas. A related technology usually associated with HDR is Wide Colour Gamut (WGC), which offers an expanded colour palette.
QEDs new cable range has been designed to be as thing and flexible as possible. Gone are the days of large bulky HDMI cables and the new Performance range is characterized by a sleek black livery with a maximum OD of just 6mm to ensure that it is suitable for use with the slimmest TVs.
In reducing the cable diameter, QED have not compromised on the purity of the conductors used, which are still made from 99.999% Oxygen Free Copper.
The new range comes in lengths of 1.5m, 3.0m and 5.0m.
All QED passive cables come with the QED Lifetime Guarantee. QEDs guarantee promises that should one of their cables fail, QED will replace it free of charge for the lifetime of the product. Consumers can rest assured that if they purchase a QED Performance HDMI it will last a lifetime.
QED is an award winning British company with over 40 years of experience in the audio-visual connectivity industry.
In 1973 Bob Abraham and Ian Vine founded QED Audio Products and changed the way people think about hi-fi cables. By the time QED 79 strand speaker cable was launched in 1978, it wasn’t looked upon as ‘just another speaker cable’ but was instead regarded as a serious hi-fi component, making a fundamental change in the way people thought about cables.
QED's reputation for innovation and technical excellence is known throughout the world. The latest computer-aided design techniques allow their research and development team to keep pace with technological advances and deliver products that achieve the highest levels of performance and reliability. This is why QED products are recommended by so many of the world’s leading hi-fi and home theatre equipment manufacturers.
QED offer a range of connectivity products spanning from both consumer and installation cables, wireless products and switching devices to satisfy every audio visual need.
QED is Europe's number one award winning connectivity brand and has won more prestigious cable awards from ‘What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision’ magazine than any other brand (Awards 1981–2013).
