Termination
This cable is professionally terminated by Futureshop's expert engineers using QED's superb 24 Carat gold plated AIRLOC termination plugs.
AIRLOC is QED's specialised loudspeaker termination method and offers the very best termination with QED speaker cables. This is a solder-free, airtight fusion between the cable and plug offering optimum signal transfer, excellent signal quality and perfect long-term performance.
QED’s AIRLOC FORTE metal banana and spade plugs deliver a superior performance over many plugs offered by rival manufacturers for the following reasons. Firstly, the plug is crimped around the conductors under high pressure using a special tool supplied by QED. No soldering is used and as a result the conductors are in contact with the plug 360 degrees which maximises the surface area contact. Furthermore, the banana plug itself is in contact with the binding post again at 360 degrees. The net effect of this is it maximises the signal transfer from the plug into your equipment and hence a superior performance. When bare wire is used not all the conductors are in contact with the binding post and as a result some loss occurs.
Unfortunately the metal barrels for the AIRLOC spades were discontinued in 2012 however we still use genuine QED’s AIRLOC spade plugs with genuine QED heat shrinks over the spade plugs. This ensures every QED speaker cable comes fully terminated with the best of QED's engineering.

Your cable will be dispatched as soon as it has been made by Future Shop's or the manufacturer’s engineers and has completed the specified burn-in process (if any), subject to Future Shop’s Terms & Conditions and stock availability.

All items are fully insured and come with an invoice from Futureshop.co.uk. We use the Royal Mail for delivery of small packages and DPD or Interlink Express for items that weigh over 2KG. Some places take longer to deliver to but we still guarantee delivery within three working days by 5.30 PM.
For the Next Day Special Delivery service, orders must be received by futureshop.co.uk by 4.30pm weekdays. Orders after the 4.30pm deadline cannot be guaranteed for same day dispatch.

QED micro speaker cable with Airloc banana & spade

Required a thin, pliable cable to route around a fireplace hearth-laminate floor interface and then up behind plasterboard to a pair of wall-mounted speakers. This product did not disappoint.
It was ordered with banana plugs on the amp end and spades on the speaker end (word of warning: spades are VERY strongly constructed; you can't bend them into a different angle!) and quite sizeable.
So, running them up inside the plasterboard would have been difficult for my purposes, but due to the connection angles on the speakers, it would have required rebating quite a sizeable void to allow them to connect to the speakers. Ultimately, they were cut off.
Despite having to remove the Airloc spades, stripping back the wire and connecting directly to the speakers, it did not harm the sound.
Quality product custom assembled and quickly delivered - what else could you want?

Cables arrived swiftly after placing the order with excellent comms throughout. Once I got the remarkably thin cables in place ( easy to wall mount through the trunk or under the carpet at floor level ), I fired up the sound system.
The quality really surprises you - there is very little disturbance to the sound in terms of interference, and they make any speaker set up at this price point sing.

Future Shop were really helpful answering my questions, once I ordered, the cables were prepared and delivered really quickly, excellent.
The QED Micro is a very compact and flexible cable (it could discretely run under a carpet) and seems a good compromise for a reasonable quality cable and sensible price, bearing in mind the length and number of cable runs.
In terms of audio quality, to be fair my previous cables were just about adequate, this sounds better. When it comes to AV system speaker cable however much you spend is it ever enough?
Running “Ad Astra” on 4k Bluray the audio does seem a little more dynamic and sharper so it’s got to be due to the cable.
Certainly if you’re looking for a decent compact cable for your AV system and don’t want to break the bank, this is certainly worth considering and Future Shop is a good place to get it.

These cables deliver so much more clarity that we have to make an adjustment to our gain structure to allow for the extra highs. Once adjusted there are considerably more depth and dynamics. But it is very hard to tell which conductor is positive on the bare wire end of the cable configuration we order. I add a small ring of red heat shrink onto the positive conductor when I receive these so that I don't have to struggle in low light to try to work out which conductor is positive in the client demonstrations. It would be great if Futureshop added an option for bare wire end marking wherein they add something to indicate positive at the time of manufacture.

We needed a cable that looked 'consumer' but sounded 'audiophile'! The QED Micro solved the problem perfectly. Virtual Point Source Holography (VPSH) creates linear phase acoustics over a huge sweet spot.
This allows for an unprecedented perception of the high frequency detail. However our low cost speaker cables where stealing a bit of the holography. In fact after swapping to QED Micro we realised the old speaker cable where steeling a lot of the holography.
