If you're an avid vinyl enthusiast who wants to get the most out of your records and ensure their longevity, then the Sweep-IT S2 from Pro-Ject Audio Systems is the perfect choice for you. It's incredibly easy to set up and use, and quickly cleans your records in real time without having to take them off the player. Position Sweep-IT S2 on your turntable and make sure that the brush is placed in front of the needle when the record starts. Simple as that.
Cleaning a record collection can be tiresome, time-consuming or just difficult to keep up with; but it’s an essential task if you want to ensure the best possible sound quality and guarantee a long stylus life. A key part of good maintenance is keeping dust out of your grooves, as too much debris in a record groove can easily stick to the pick-up stylus and cause unwanted artefacts in the sound. There are many ways to reduce the amount of dust inside a record groove, but few are as convenient as Sweep-IT S2.
Record brooms have been around since the early 1970s. Some of them do a good job, some rather not. In many cases the brush rushes towards the middle of the platter, running out of sync with the tonearm. This phenomenon is known as skating. Recent developments aim to tackle this problem. Here the highly efficient neodymium magnet comes into play. These magnets are used to stabilize the record broom of the Sweep it S2. Sweep it S2 is constructed in collaboration with Klaus Mick and uses his patented technology to stabilize the record broom. Extensive theoretical and empirical research has been put into the development of this product.
Sweep-IT S2 is made from aluminium for its lightweight-yet-durable properties, in order to ensure a long cleaning life. With a heavyweight base that sits directly on your turntable, the uni-pivot arm navigates your records just like a tonearm, with minimal resistance. The soft hair-brush has been purpose-chosen to ensure records remain unharmed and the playback speed remains stable. For times when you don’t need Sweep-IT S2, it has a dedicated arm rest for convenient storage.
The magnetic attraction between the neodymium magnet – based in the top part of the cylinder – and the [Fe] core/counterweight stabilizes the record brush. Moreover, the distance between the neodymium magnet and the [Fe] core/counterweight is carefully chosen to ensure a specific magnetic stabilization force. As the aluminium of the brusharm is paramagnetic, it acts like an additional space between the neodymium magnet and the [Fe] core/counterweight.
Sweep it S2 is height adjustable within a range of about 1cm. The position can be locked with the set screw on the base. With this mechanism, it is possible to adjust the height of the arm of the record broom in order to align it horizontally with the platter. A correct horizontal alignment ensures the correct tracking force of about 6g.
The record broom can be placed in one of two left hand side corners of the turntable. The placement is depending on the type and shape of your turntable. At the optimal position the brush should align with the spindle (i.e. the center of the platter). Deviations (relative to the spindle) between 1,5 to 2 cm are well compensated by design of the Sweep it S2. Higher deviations can cause more drastic skating effects.
Pro-Ject was founded in 1991, during the onslaught of the compact disc and CD players, with the mission to offer the best analogue experience for reasonable prices. In a time where the digital audio media had been on the rise, and vinyl was declared as outdated and dead, Heinz Lichtenegger kept his belief in the simple but best way to enjoy music – turntables.
With cutting edge technologies and machines, Pro-Ject are able to create visually pleasing products without losing the eye for the finest details. In Czech Republic, they produce all of their turntables from scratch, by hand and in house. From the tiniest screw to the chassis, everything is done by Pro-Ject's technicians. A strict four step quality control ensures that everything works as intended.
In Slovakia Pro-Ject manufacture micro sized high end audio components. By shrinking the cabinets to a miniature size, they were able to save costs and offer our customers a true price to performance relation. Pro-Ject pride themselves with products that have a long-lasting value and give their customers satisfaction in all their audio needs.
