Leyline4X has been designed to bring out the best performance from today’s increasingly sophisticated yet affordably priced electronics and loudspeakers and provide consistent and reliable service in environments where cables may be non-removable. Chord's latest XLPE dielectric brings a huge improvement over the previous (and more commonly used) PVC. This move follows the successful introduction of Taylon® as a phase-stable insulation material in the flagship SarumT and ChordMusic speaker cables and the subsequent roll-out of XLPE across their speaker cable ranges.

Leyline4X builds on the time-proven Leyline platform and brings the advantages of XLPE technology, cementing its position as the market-leader in performance and value for hi-fi, home cinema and custom installations.
For installers, the cable is metre-marked and is supplied in an easy-access 152m pull-box; it comes with a EN50575 DCA-S2, D2, A1 CPR rating. It also features a rip-cord to aid stripping of the outer jacket.
Chords ChordOhmic silver-plated loudspeaker plugs are designed to bring both the electrical and sonic benefits of silver to speaker cables.
Silver-plating not only makes sense from an electrical point of view, it can give an audibly superior result during listening tests, when compared with gold plated connectors. Plugs will also benefit from a major clean, using a good contact cleaner or enhancer.
The original Chord Leyline (now LeylineX) speaker cable came into being during the first wave of home A/V set-ups. Amplifiers for all rooms were often fitted in one place. This meant long (and sometimes very long) runs of speaker cable throughout the structure. It also meant that the cable had to be discrete and affordable. There were already a lot of cheap cables available, so Chord needed to develop something better. Size restrictions meant using 16AWG conductors. Long runs meant using a twisted pair design – which suited Chord as they already used twisted pair geometry to produce speaker cables anyway.
The problem came with longer runs and a loss of high frequency detail along with space and coherence. Chord solved this by tin-plating the conductors. It wasn’t an overly bright cable and would now carry high frequency detail over longer runs.
LeylineX is a great choice for rear speakers in multi-channel systems. It can be used with pretty much whatever level of speaker cable you choose for the front speakers, with no loss of overall balance.
This cable is custom-made according to customers specific requirements as selected by the various drop-down options above. Future Shop’s highly experienced engineers professionally terminate Chord Cable’s using their superb silver-plated ChordOhmic plugs.
ChordOhmic is Chord’s new silver-plated termination option designed to bring both the electrical and sonic benefits of silver to your speaker cable. Future Shop terminates Chord speaker cables using Chord’s special HEXGUN. An airtight crimp is applied to the plug creating a secure and protected termination. This is a solder-free, airtight fusion between the cable and plug offering optimum signal transfer, excellent signal quality and perfect long-term performance. Furthermore, the banana plug itself is in contact with the binding post again at 360 degrees. The net effect of this is it maximises the signal transfer from the plug into your equipment and hence a superior performance. When a bare wire is used not all the conductors are in contact with the binding post and as a result, some loss occurs.
In addition to the ChordOhmic plugs, Chord has introduced a 4mm crimp-fit banana plug with premium gold plating, designed for use with the Chord Company Hex-Gun crimp tool. This crimp version ensures reliable and durable connections, providing cost-effective, high-quality performance while reducing resistance and maintaining signal integrity and sound clarity.
From the dropdown menus' above, simply select the length of cable, the type of plugs required at the ‘Amplifier end’ and ‘Speaker end’ and click on the 'Add to Basket' button to add the item to your basket. Your cable will be dispatched as soon as it has been made by Future Shop's or the manufacturer’s engineers and has completed the specified burn-in process (if any), subject to Future Shop’s Terms & Conditions and stock availability.
