Atacama Audio
Atacama Audio
Atacama Audio, formerly known as Sambell Engineering Ltd, has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1969 as a sub-contract engineering company specialising in aerospace work. With a strong reputation as a trusted supplier to prestigious companies like Rolls Royce and British Aerospace, Atacama Audio transitioned into manufacturing its own commercial products.
In 1987, Atacama Audio developed an innovative HiFi speaker stand, which garnered positive feedback from local retailers. Despite being temporarily put on hold in 1988 due to overwhelming manufacturing demands, the interest in the speaker stands remained. In 1992, the company re-evaluated and refined the speaker stand design, leading to the 'SE' series launch under the new Atacama brand name. This successful release earned accolades such as "Best Buy" and "HiFi Accessory of the Year."
Over the years, Atacama Audio continued to thrive and expand its product offerings. The Equinox Series of equipment supports, introduced in 2001, became the preferred choice and won "Product of the Year" for five consecutive years. In 2011, the company ventured into wood processing, specifically bamboo composite, allowing for technically advanced designs and eco-friendly alternatives.
In 2013, Atacama Audio acquired Apollo HiFi, enabling the company to pursue two distinct development paths. Atacama focused on innovative designs based on performance using bamboo materials, while Apollo concentrated on more traditional wood-based HiFi furniture designs focusing on aesthetics and practicality. The success continued with various award-winning products, including the Atacama Eris Eco 5, Evoque Eco 60-40, Moseco Speaker Stand, and Apollo Storm 6 modular HiFi rack.
As a company committed to innovation, Atacama Audio constantly explores new concepts in HiFi furniture design. Their latest range, the NeXXus series of speaker stands, offers adaptability, upgradability, and a wide range of customisation options. Atacama Audio and Apollo HiFi furniture strives to exceed customer expectations, providing exceptional HiFi speaker stands and AV rack support designs. The company looks forward to introducing even more innovative designs in the future.
