Following on from the success of the Storm Series NRG power cables (Thunder, Tornado, Hurricane & Dragon), AudioQuest have utilised trickle down techniques to create a new series of affordable, entry level NRG power cables. Featuring the excellent Noise-Dissipation technology employed in the Storm Series, this new range of NRG-Y and NRG-Z cables outperform their old NRG-X and NRG-1/1.5/2 counterparts by a landslide. The NRG-Z3 replaces the NRG-2 however it outperforms previous higher models.
Ideal for video displays, powered speakers, and all electronics, NRG-Z3 (3-pole) cables use direction-controlled Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) conductors in a Semi-Solid Concentric arrangement in which the individual copper strands are packed more tightly and never change position within the bundle. This construction significantly reduces strand interaction distortion. The astonishingly smooth and pure Perfect-Surface conductors minimize distortion caused by grain boundaries and surface discontinuities that exist in any metal conductor. In addition, NRG-Z3's direction-controlled silver-plated shield conductors efficiently drain RF noise to ground.

Zero Characteristic Impedance for Uncompressed Current Transfer
A non-technical analogy for this might be that if you drop a coin in a tube with shampoo in it, no matter how wide (low resistance) that tube, the shampoo (the Characteristic Impedance) is going to get in the way (compromise current transients). Eliminating Characteristic Impedance (Zero means No in this application) is like having only air in the tube, as close to a vacuum as possible. Whether the amp is running at less than a watt or is fully maxed out, the unrestricted transients are visceral — something the whole body understands, no words required.
Semi-Solid Concentric Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) Conductors
NRG-Z2 and NRG-Z3 cables take a step further and use Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC in Z3, PSC+ in Z2), in a 7-strand SemiSolid Concentric conductor arrangement. The astonishingly smooth and pure Perfect-Surface processed conductors minimize distortion caused by grain boundaries and surface discontinuities which exist in any metal conductor
Direction-Controlled Conductors & Silver-Plated Shield Drains
All drawn metal has a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so that noise drains away from where it will cause distortion. The Silver-Plated shield drains efficiently remove RF noise from the line and neutral shields via the wall plug’s “ground” pin – which is why even the 2-Pole “2” models have an unexpected ground pin.
Ground-Noise Dissipation Technology
As with the Storm Series AC cables, Z3 includes AudioQuest’s Ground Noise-Dissipation Technology. AC Ground wires over protection from current-wiring faults, but they also act as antennas, picking up radio frequency (RF) noise, which bypasses component power supplies and is typically coupled directly into a system’s most sensitive audio or video circuits.
AudioQuest's Ground-Noise Dissipation System employs a commonmode phase-canceling array that yields unprecedented levels of noise dissipation and reduction across the widest bandwidth (range) of radio frequencies – dramatically lowering distortion in the attached electronics.

I had already gotten the same cable and required a second to upgrade on the stock cable received with the component.
I was really impressed by the quality, and more importantly, as the cable was shorter in length than the stock cable, that small distance from the wall to the component was, for me, more tidier than having cable strewn on the floor.
I would recommend this cable.

I compared this to the NRG-Y cable I bought a while ago (which was a big improvement over the original cable supplied with my amp), and the NRG-Z really is much better again than the NRG-Y.
In my opinion, the extra cost is well worthwhile. I have tried the cable on my Linn amp and also my daughter's Moon amp, with great results on both. I have noticed that the improvement gets increasingly as the cable has been 'burned in'.

I agree with all that's been said here; a great cable for a reasonable price made quite a difference even over the Y3.
If you are on the fence between Y3 and Z3, go for the Z3; the price difference is not all that much, but this is clearly the better cable and thicker and harder to bend. It is highly recommended.

NRG-Z3 Mains cables with research fuses in Linn Hifi

I have gone into my power supply all the way back to a Futurtech socket through a Tornado mains cable into a Niagra 1200 power conditioner with four AudioQuest Z3s with fuses feeding my Linn devices; a Majik DSM 3, a Majik Exact I with Katalyst and Exact Sub providing a Rel T7i and a pair of Majik 140 floor standers using optimisation.
The results are excellent, but I found I had to experiment with the fuses. I am using two blue, two orange and a black in my tornado. I tried an AudioQuest Y3 power cable first but soon realised the AudioQuest Z3's were much better

This AudioQuest power cable is great in terms of value, quality and impact on the sound. It is a must-have in your stereo set up.
It improved the sound quality of my amplifier, it makes my amplifier sound as it should versus the stock power cords that came with it. I was sceptical 1st about the impact that a power cable can bring out to a stereo component, until I auditioned 1 in the year 2019,

The NRG Y3 was excellent for the money, big improvements.....my wonderful wife gifted me a Z3 ..... so traded Y3 in for another NRG Z3 and it took the sound to another level. More music, proper imaging, dynamics and bass. Just makes music more alive at every level, great job of cleaning up the mains and letting more music through. CD now sounds quite vinyl like, clear and smooth.
Marantz SA8005, Rotel 1062, Thorens/RB300/AT150/Graham Slee GA2 and B&W CM7 all sounding great, a really effective upgrade and given my amp a new lease of life, and really enjoying my music. Mains is important! Now 2x Z3, for the Russ Andrews mains block and the amp, and the new QED for the CD source, all from Future Shop, thank you gentlemen.

I bought these cables as I had a "hum coming from 1 of 4 power amps and I have been very impressed with audio quest products recently . Installed the NRG-Z3 cables and hum was eliminated so definitely improved my system as a result of fitting the cable.
Recently I have installed Audioquest ethernet , interconnect and power cord cables and I the difference in the sound coming from my system is significant .Depth of bass , clarity of vocals , stereo separation are all improved . It is difficult to be specific about the exact improvement the power cables have delivered but there is an improvement for sure.
Construction of cable is excellent and with Audioquest you can see what you pay for which is not true of all cables.
I cannot fault the NRG-Z3 power cords and will buy more when I can afford to.

Allows more of the classical Devialet sound. I have purposely delayed a few days to allow my impressions to become established.
I use a Melco-N1 feeding directly into a Devialet 440 Pro. Devialet are one of the few who quote specifications in their advertising, the clear implication being that they do impact critically on sound quality. This is borne out by the family sound of the 'Expert Series', of which the 440 is one down from the top. The basic sound is highly detailed, and nuanced, and emerges from an inky background. The core device produced a sound quality that I had not previously realised could be obtained from CD or even Hi-Res.
The first change I made to my system - Orea Bronze isolators - simply 'amplified' the family sound characteristics. These new Z3 cables, and the Carbon USB cable bought at the same time, have delivered more of the same, though I thought it took a day or so for the change to be grossly apparent. I look forward to investigating AQ loudspeaker cables soon.

I have it connected direct from the mains to a WireWorld Matrix mains block feeding my Anthem MRX 1120/Phillips/Sky Q/ Apple 4K/Kef R Series Home AV.
Definitely worth the money. Most noticeable improvements were in detail retrieval and sound stage - I.e. allowed Anthem to do more of what it does great already. Other improvements I can’t quite put my finger on except to say it sounds right.

I now need to think about mains block to components cables next as the other old Merlin Tarantula MK1s have already been put on notice.

Excellent cable. As a first purchase of a mains power cable after 40 years using OEM as supplied, I was prepared to be underwhelmed. How wrong I was. Replacing the reasonable looking OEM cable to my Marantz PM14S1se with the NRG Z3 increased detail and soundstage. Very pleasantly surprised and well worth the investment.

I used this cable direct from the wall into my Jeff Rowland power amp, and it was noticeable immediately that the noise floor dropped (it was already quiet), so now you could hear more fine detail, giving music more front to back depth and the bass became more punchy and defined. Made the music so much more foot tapping and rhythmical.

Using with Niagara 1000. I bought this to use with Niagara 1000 Noise Dissipation System Mains Conditioner as on the package it said works best with audioquests own direction controlled cables. And bought also one to replace the black standard cable for my Lake People RS02 Headphone amp, HP is HD800S and dac is Hugo 2.
Streaming from my apple tv 4k, apple music app. Optical out from LG oled b6 TV to dac.
It works great together with Niagara 1000 cleaning up the sounds without harming the dynamics.
The following improvements i hear.

*Less grain and sibilance
*Sounds like i am listening to higher resolution now.
