Taking after its name, the AudioQuest Mistral offers greater sustained current flow via its large 3.31mm2 conductors consisting of a combination of Perfect-Surface Copper+ and Long-Grain Copper. This combination increases the current of power entering your equipment (such as amplifiers, streamers, cd players etc.) and ultimately improving dynamics while reducing noise-floors within your system.

At Future Shop, we personally tested the Mistral Mains Power Cable within our own system to hear the improvements ourselves. Whether we connected it to our Pre-amp, Power-amp, CD player or streamer, overall we noticed greater clarity with a wider soundstage. When connecting our whole system with Mistral power cables, our system sounded better than we've ever heard it. The dynamic range reproduced was breathtaking and the noise-floor was non-existent.

Zero Characteristic Impedance Enables Uncompressed Current Transfer

A non-technical analogy for this might be that if you drop a coin in a tube with shampoo in it, no matter how wide (low resistance) that tube, the shampoo (the Characteristic Impedance) is going to get in the way (compromise current transients). Eliminating Characteristic Impedance (Zero means No in this application) is like having only air in the tube, as close to a vacuum as possible. Whether the amp is running at less than a watt or is fully maxed out, the unrestricted transients are visceral — something the whole body understands, no words required.

Patented Ground Noise-Dissipation and Direction-Controlled Conductors

AC Ground wires provide protection from current-wiring faults, but they also act as antennas. Thus, they are subject to induced radio-frequency (RF) noise. This RF noise bypasses component power supplies and is typically coupled directly into a system’s most sensitive audio/video circuits. AudioQuest’s patented Ground-Noise Dissipation greatly reduces this distortion, yielding unprecedented levels of noise dissipation across the widest bandwidth (range) of radio frequencies possible. AudioQuest's unique circuit topology utilizes a common-mode phase-cancelling array, in concert with proprietary dielectric materials which provide additional differential linear filtering.

High-Purity True-Concentric Conductors

With only Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) on the outside, Mistral’s conductors are essentially all PSC+ even though the conductor core is Long-Grain Copper (LGC). Both superior metal and conductor geometry greatly reduce ear-fatiguing Transient Intermodulation (TIM) Distortion.

Directionally Controlled Conductors

All drawn metal strands or conductors have a non-symmetrical, and therefore directional, grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so that noise is drained away from where it will cause distortion. The correct direction is determined by listening to every batch of metal conductors used in every AudioQuest audio cable. When applicable, arrows are clearly marked on the connectors to ensure superior sound quality. For most models of AQ cable, the arrows not only indicate the direction that optimizes metal-directionality as part of Noise-Dissipation but also indicates non-symmetrical attachment of shield and GND in order to optimize full-system performance.

Uncompressed High-Current Transfer

While many AC power cables feature low DC resistance in order to accommodate the demand for high current, a cable's characteristic impedance is also crucial for optimal performance.

Unlike most AC cables that constrict or compress an audio-provoked transient, AudioQuest AC cables combine low DC resistance and Zero characteristic impedance in order to deliver uncompressed high current transients on demand.

Optional Fuse Upgrade

As an optional extra, Future Shop will upgrade the built-in fuse to the excellent Blue 13A fuse from Synergistic Research (SR). The SR Blue fuse is an excellent upgrade choice due to the materials used which offer an increase in resolution and realism over standard fuses. Some of the improvements you may hear include; a quieter noise-floor, greater dynamics, a more relaxed sound and detailed musicality.

Optional Sleeving

For both style and protection, Future Shop offer installation of a durable black braid on your new custom cables. The braid Future Shop uses is resistant to chemical degradation, UV radiation and abrasion alongside a wide operating temperature range. This means your new cable will be protected for years to come.
