Atlas Equator 2.0 is a 2mm² cable using OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) conductors in a high-density PEF dielectric (insulation layer) far more efficient than PVC or polyethylene. The superior dielectric offers both a better-measured performance and an audible improvement in dynamics. The core assemblies are contained in a cotton yarn to reduce microphone, and the outer sheath is in a pearl white finish.

Atlas Gold Plated Z Plugs
The Atlas Z plug has stood the test of time. Using beryllium copper for the contact area, It's designed to make a 100% contact within the 4mm female socket. The body is made from copper and it's available for home assembly with grub screws to make contact with the conductors. When factory-fitted or fitted by an Atlas-appointed custom cable centre, they're cold welded under pressure to amalgamate the conductors to the plug in an air-tight seal. The outer sleeve is finished in black coloured ABS or in a turned brass with a fine oven-applied powder coat finish. The Atlas Z plug is justifiably considered to be one of the best 4mm plugs available.

Atlas Achromatic Z Plugs
Atlas’s expert electro-mechanical knowledge has led to the innovation of the next generation of banana plugs known as the ‘Atlas Achromatic Z Plug’, Atlas has focused on improving performance to create a higher performance starting point for their speaker cables as well as eliminating variability in performance. This has been achieved by refocusing on materials and the assembly processes.
Atlas has made 4 key changes with the Achromatic Z plug. Firstly, the barrel of the Achromatic Z plug features a high stability ABS material. This is strong, stable and of superlative surface quality.
In addition, there is also an improvement to the plug's contact resistance achieved by improving the compliance of the beryllium copper contact leaves featured on the Achromatic Z plug. Beryllium copper offers excellent conductivity of signals.
The third change was to upgrade the manufacturability of the plug for pneumatic tool processing.
Finally, there is a reduction in the overall mass of the Z-Plug by 35% which has shown to improve signal transmission.
The above changes mean a solder-free, low mass, self-cleaning, recyclable Z-plug with a non-conductive body.
Oxygen Free Copper (OFC)<
OFC is produced through an extrusion process which takes place in an oxygen-free-inert-gas atmosphere. This leads to a reduced oxygen content (10 ppm) when compared to Tough Pitch Copper (TPC) and an improvement in conductivity which typically measures in at between 0.5% and 2% greater than TPC. The OFC process therefore produces a much higher quality audio cable than the TPC process. High purity conductors sound clearer than their unprocessed (TPC) counterparts because there are fewer crystal boundaries present to cause signal degradation.

PEF Dielectric
PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) is cheap to produce and, as such, is the most commonly used insulation in AV cables. However, PVC is the worst quality insulation a Hi-Fi or AV signal can encounter as its high loss causes a significant reduction in signal velocity. PVC is better suited to power cables and should be avoided in Hi-Fi and AV signal cables.
Other dielectrics in common use are Polyethylene, Polypropylene and Polytetrafluoride Epoxy (better known as PTFE (Teflon™) or Teflon,) and the new and unique Atlas (PTFE).
The foaming process uses a blowing agent, of which there are two types. Atlas use the gas-foamed method which creates a more inert, consistent and higher quality product.
The table below shows the properties of a selection of dielectrics. Though not used as a dielectric in Atlas' cables, PVC is included for comparison purposes.

This cable is custom-made according to customer's specific requirements as selected by the various dropdown options above. Future Shop can terminate your speaker cable using the Atlas Achromatic Z Plugs (Banana/BFA), the Atlas’ Gold Plated 4mm banana/BFA Z-Plugs or gold-plated spade Plugs. Cables are professionally terminated using a cold-weld method by Future Shop's engineers and guaranteed for ten years. The plugs are put on using a cold weld method with an official tool supplied by Atlas. Cold-welding does not involve solder, which means the plug is crimped around the conductors at 360 degrees' under very high pressure to form an air-tight seal, which prevents the conductors from oxidising. This forms a better contact than soldering. Furthermore, the conductor is in full contact with the plug, which is in 360-degree contact with the binding post of your equipment, which means the signal flow is maximised from the cable into your equipment.

The Nordost VIDAR cable burn-in machine integrates three key functions into one operation:
- Charge Neutralisation: It eliminates charges that accumulate around the cables and their insulation, ensuring a more balanced electrical environment.
- Deep Conditioning: The machine provides a wide band and deep conditioning process that affects the conductor core, resulting in changes to the signal transmission through the metal. This deep conditioning enhances the cable's performance.

After spending a great deal of time and money on upgrading my interconnect and speaker cables, I still wasn't completely satisfied with the sound I was getting from my system. The treble was too bright and edgy, so I considered changing my 10-year-old amplifier.
These speaker cables have really improved the sound. The treble is now more refined, the bass more evident, and everything sounds clearer. I'm totally satisfied with the sound I'm getting. I now realise how good my amplifier is and have decided to keep it. I opted for the 96-hour burn-in, and the cables sounded great as soon as I used them. There was some sibilance on vocals at first, but after a few hours, this completely disappeared.
Futureshop's service was excellent.

I moved from QED cables to try something a little different. I'm very glad I have. There's quite a punch to these, real crisp, precise sound that is extremely detailed. The soundstage is very eye-opening and seductive to the senses, emphasising the Linn drum sequencer greatly and making its stage quite vast.
MR Harket's voice is made more direct and very much the pinnacle as per usual in the songs. Take, for example, T-REX, the drums on the slider have quite a deep, punchy presence, and the warmth and detail of Marc's guitar work, especially on Buick McKane, the song. Also, Chariot Choogle has energy in its bones, brought to life with the Atlas Equator speaker cable. Then we get heavily hypnotised by Billie Holiday; the cables truly bring her prowess to life her vocals pretty much swim into your soul and the subtlety of the snare drums being brushed in the background is just heavenly.

I needed a longer run of cables as I re-positioned my electronics, these replaced a pair of Audioquest Rocket-11, which I loved, but I have to say these are a much better pairing with my Rega Exon-3 mono blocks and Kef R-3s.
Everything seems much more controlled and punchier, and well I guess, like Victor in the comments, with his Rega system more natural, so they seem to synergise well. I went with the gold-plated Z plugs.
I had the entire 96-hour burn, and they sounded great out of the box. I'm happy with my choice; delivery was fast (considering the burn-in).

Prior to this, I used Chord and QED Silver anniversary. Chord sounded very boomy, and QED is just too bright. This Atlas cable fits my Rega system just perfectly!

I used these Atlas Equator 2.0 Cables on My Presonus Computer Speakers, & a more than noticeable difference; how to explain it ??? I listen to a lot of Music on Youtube & everything came out " Clearer & more defined " I'm not a Hi-fi Buff, so that's the best that I can do, Thanks for all Your help at FutureShop .................

Well, these did surprise me. Used them for the front L+R+Centre speakers of my theatre system (Arcam AVR850 driving Dali Rubicon6's and centre speaker) and everything "tightened up" especially in stereo direct mode. These cables perform as well as more expensive ones, I have tested them against another system, Naim XS3 and ProAc D28's with QED Revelation and preferred the delivery from the equator 2 ... so replaced the QED!

I purchased 3 lengths of the Equator 2.0 after a home theatre demo; needless to say I was totally impressed with it's open soundstage. I'm using it for the front 3 channels of my home theatre system, partnering my Onkyo RZ1100 with my Klipsch reference speakers and it sounds flawless.
Although a tough, solid cable it bends well and was easily installed through the studs and around the racking corners. Would happily purchase again and recommend to others.

Fantastic cable. I run this cable through my Hi-Fi and AV amps I've tried many other cables, some costing silly money but have always come back to this. I've always found it a very clear sounding cable and at a very reasonable cost, the last length I bought was to use in an Amp switching box that I have built, so now all output cable is the same.
I also use Atlas interconnects as I have found the company to know what they are talking about when it comes to cable building, I can't recommend them enough

Excellent sound and top quality cable. Firstly, two thumbs up to Future Shop for their advice on the choice of cable and for their service. It was excellent and super fast. With regards to the Atlas Equator, paired with my Marantz amp and Jamo speakers and switching from standard zip chord, I can't stress enough the jump in quality for the better. Who would say that all speaker cables sound the same?!!
The soundstage has grown to fill the room, the bass is tighter and the highs are smoother. The sibilance that was previously present is all but gone from the system. If I had to use two words to characterise this cable I would use the words silky smooth. Any distortion or harshness in the system is simply gone.

Asked for a certain type of speaker cable which was not really the one for my system. Got advice from Adam Senior and went for above cable gave measurements for 5 cables with 4 mm plugs going to the AV amp unfortunately one was the wrong length just told to send back the next day the correct cable length arrived. Adam Junior gave me the refund.
The cables are amazing big improvement on original cables. The service from the guys at Future shop is amazing the advice is for each install even if the cables are cheaper. The two Adams are real gents will definitely buy from this unique company again focus is on customer satisfaction.
