The Eos Modular 2.5em is a robust, no-nonsense screened power extension block designed and built to deliver unimpeded power to audio system components. With the new Eos em technology, Atlas have upgraded the internal wiring of the Modular 2.5, to include the new Eos em wiring to deliver additional performance and isolation from mains related RF pollution.
The Eos Modular 2.5em is a robust, no-nonsense screened power extension block designed and built to deliver unimpeded power to audio system components. The Eos 2.5em Modular block is housed in an elegant aluminium chassis, internally wired with the same 2.5mm² copper conductors used in the Atlas Eos 2.5em power cable. This consistency of materials is highly desirable, minimising material ‘barriers’ which are themselves points of weakness.
With the new Eos em technology, Atlas have upgraded the internal wiring of the Modular 2.5, to include the new Eos em wiring to deliver additional performance and isolation from mains related RF pollution.
The 2.5em modular power distribution block achieves RFI/EMI screening when used in conjunction with Eos dd, Eos 2.5em, Eos 4.0em or Eos Superior screened mains cables and performs optimally as part of a complete Eos Power Management System, in which the most important cable is the one between mains socket and distribution block – eg, an Eos 2.5em for the block, and perhaps amplifier, and Eos 2.5em or dd cables for other components.
We live in an electrically noisy soup, permeated by all manner of potential interference. The ‘household’ mains distribution blocks and extensions often used for audio/AV systems can actually contribute to performance degradation, offering little in the way of shielding, and typically incorporating noisy neon power indicators, fuse holders and low-grade wiring/bus-bars which are all points of weakness. These factors and the degree to which they can degrade audio performance have perhaps been underestimated previously, only recently coming to play a critical role in many manufacturers’ product design strategies. At Atlas, such issues have been a core consideration for several years, culminating in the introduction of our latest Eos ‘em’ power cables and distribution blocks.
Dimensions: 440mm (L) x 120mm (H) x 60mm (W).
Atlas use a technique called ‘Atlas ssd’ (sequential socket decoupling) to ensure that even those sockets which are not subjected to inline filtration enjoy a level of interference-free operation. The benefit is all the sockets perform and measure identically, not the case with normal domestic blocks where the sockets nearest the cable entry typically perform best because the impedance rises as resistive losses accumulate on each ‘daisy-chained’ socket. Even the neon power indicators on conventional domestic blocks are a source of noise in themselves, which is why Atlas don’t fit them to their blocks.
Atlas Cables are a major producer of interconnects and cables in the United Kingdom of Great Britain. All products are researched, developed and most are assembled in the Atlas purpose built factory in Scotland.
Many of these products are unique and use advanced techniques of production or manufacture in order to bring to the user the very finest quality products. With each new model we continue to push the boundaries of reliability and performance. It's little wonder then, that Atlas Cables have had so many mile-stone advances in the past and that Atlas Cables have secured so many awards in comparative tests against other products.
